Quick Review

In Rollback, Tom Woods takes a wrecking ball to the established myths that prop up government in the minds of Americans. From interventions in the economy to interventions overseas, Woods shows how the vast majority of government programs are costly, destructive and entirely unnecessary.

Praise for Rollback

“Time after time, I found myself saying as I read Woods’ book, ‘I didn’t know that.’ Finally, I had repeated ‘I didn’t know that’ to myself so many times that I looked up to see what page of the book I was on. It was page 14.” – Robert Wenzel, Economic Policy Journal

“In Rollback, economic historian Tom Woods proves that the true culprit for our financial woes is a government that thinks it can right any wrong, regulate any activity, and tax any event; and a public that continues to accept the assault on its natural liberties in the name of safety. Woods demonstrates with brutal clarity the critical and immediate need to reject the myth that the government can protect us and to repeal the institutions it has created to do so.” – Judge Andrew Napolitano

  1. Agree entirely. Rollback is like a modern version of Rothbard’s For a New Liberty, but even more readable.

Now, drop whatever you are reading and pick up Bryan Caplan’s “Myth of the Rational Voter.” No other book better explains why our current political system (i.e., democracy) will never solve the problems Woods points out in Rollback.
